Getting To Know You (Me) – Aug. 8th

Getting to know YOU

The Questions

1. Do you think mustaches are sexy?
Yes and no. No to thick mustaches, un-groomed mustaches, handlebar mustaches. Yes to mustaches which lead to a sexy goatee…on a sexy man…

2. What's the last concert you've been to?
Edgefest – May 9, 2009 in Dallas. Okay, so we had a blast listening to bands such as Korn, Blue October, Papa Roach, Shine Down, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Used, Anberlin and more. But what was more fun than that was taking pictures of the drunken party-goers. If you happened to be at Edgefest and were one of the drunken girls flashing your boobs, hubby probably has it on our camera. Here are a few of my favorite shots:

3. What was your favorite 80's sitcom?
Duh, The Facts Of Life

4. Were you named after anyone?
No, thank goodness. My grandmothers are both named Virginia, which was almost my name. Genevieve was a close second. Thanks mom and dad for going with the most popular girl’s name, Jennifer. I attended a large high school and there were always at least 3 other Jennifers’ in my class. Good decision.

5. When you buy new clothes, do you wash before wearing?
Really? People actually wash their new clothes? I never do. I only wash pajama bottoms, undies and swimwear.

6. If you didn't blog, what would you do with your spare time? I was going to say what the heck is spare time!? Hmm….if I didn’t blog I would probably…I would…. What the heck, this is sad. I don’t know what I would do. Okay, I figured it out. I blog at night when the family is sleeping, so if I didn’t blog, I would sleep. haha Wow, it would be so nice to sleep. Something I miss dearly.

7. What is your favorite department store?
I love a good deal and JCPenney and Kohl’s always have the best clearance sales. Otherwise, Nordstrom Rack or Macy’s.

8. If  you were to get Laser Hair Removal..where would you get it? Considering I have PCOS, hair is a big problem. If I had to choose one area, I would have to say my “sideburns.” No, they’re not manly sideburns, but they bother me. Ideally, I would like to have laser hair removal anywhere there is hair, except my head. Waxing and shaving every other day is a pain in my butt.

Could Your Husband Be Lying To You?

I consider my husband and I to have a very open and honest relationship. We both love to talk and we tell each other everything. Well, maybe I wouldn’t go that far. I’m sure if he were checking out the hottie in the convertible out on his way home, he wouldn’t tell me. Just like I don’t tell him every time some random guy hits on me. I would consider that to be holding back which is quite different from lying. That’s another story. I recently found out my husband lied to me. What makes it worse, is the fact that he has been telling the same lie over and over for the past two years! Here’s how it all went down.

Scenario: The family is out shopping. Husband, Wife (me) & our 24month old son.

Husband: Oh man! What is that smell? Hon, do you smell that? Did you fart? caution-dad-changing-diaper-funny
Wife: No, did you? Check the baby... I thought you were going to change him!?
Husband: I did. I think.
Wife: Ugh, I WILL check him. Yeah, he pooped. I have to run and pick up this prescription before the pharmacy closes. Please go change him.
Husband: I can’t.
Wife: Why can’t you? I’ve changed 4 crappy diapers today. You’re telling me you can’t even change one? Come on babe, I’ve got to get to the pharmacy.
Husband: No, I can’t. They don’t have a table for me to change him.
Wife: What!? You’re kidding me.
Husband: Nope. I’m serious.
Wife: Well, that’s stupid. What do single dads do when they have to change their baby’s diaper? I can’t believe it. Are you serious?
Husband: I’m dead serious. Go check if you don’t believe me.
Wife: No, that’s fine. I will do it. At least we know the builder was a man, and without kids obviously.

You get the gist. So men’s bathrooms do not have changing tables. Okay, whatever. I was a bit annoyed, but I got over it fast. Everything changed at a recent trip to Bass Pro Shop with my husband, son and father.

Husband: Oh man, I’ve got to run to the truck and grab my wallet.
Wife: You forgot it again? Ugh, well hurry up.
Husband: *runs out to the truck*
Wife: What’s that smell?
My Dad: You know I can’t smell.
Wife: Awe, it’s A. Why does he always wait until we’re shopping before he goes poop! Crap! The wipes are in the truck and I don’t have my phone. *My dad goes to grab wipes*
Thanks dad. I will be right back.

My Dad: Oh no, let me do it.
Wife: Are you sure? Let me, I will be right back.
My Dad: Yeah, I have to go too.
Wife: Ok, I will be looking around right here. Oh wait! You can’t change him! They don’t have baby changing stations.
My Dad: *laughs* Yes, they do. *Takes baby to change diaper. Returns shortly*
Wife: I can’t believe him. He told me men’s restrooms don’t have baby changing stations. I can’t believe he has been letting me change poopy diapers for the past two years.
My Dad: *laughs, only more hysterically* They do. He got you!

When my husband finally returned, I brought up the topic. I told him I could not believe he had lied for the past two years, pawning the poopy diapers off on me every single time. He responded with “ Bass Pro is the only one. I’ve never seen them before.” My dad was quick to laugh before telling me that most men’s restrooms have changing stations.

Wow! I can’t believe I fell for that one. I can’t help but laugh at the entire situation. How could I have been so gullible? If only I had went and checked the men’s restroom during our first shopping trip. I guess all I can say is lesson learned.

Did you already know men’s restrooms are equipped with changing stations? Has your husband ever lied to you to get out of changing a diaper? What excuses has he come up with?

Just a friendly note…Do not search Google Images for “Man Diaper Funny”. What you will see is not funny. It’s unusual, odd, a bit disturbing and absolutely not funny – at all.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful moms! As a mother, I know the feeling of going to work, caring for your husband and kids, cooking, cleaning, running errands, doing laundry, dishes, and being in charge of EVERYTHING and EVERYONE while receiving no appreciation. This day is for you - Enjoy it! I hope everyone has a Happy Mother's Day. Relax, enjoy your family and demand your hubby to take care of the household chores for once!

I received the greatest Mother's Day gift any mother could ever ask for- my son. I can't believe he is two years old today. It feels like it was only yesterday that I was in that hospital bed awaiting his arrival. Eight years ago I was told I would never be able to have children.  I was torn up inside from the thought of never being able to have a child. This just goes to show God is in control. I feel so very blessed to be the mother of such a little monster angel. For all of you women who are in similar situations, never give up hope!

Five Question Friday - May 7th

My Little Life

1. What is your worst memory of your siblings?
My brother and I are 9 months apart - mamma didn't waste any time. We fought like crazy. We couldn't stand each other. But I guess the worst part was witnessing him getting beat up by a bunch of boys after he got off the school bus. I tried to stop it, but I wasn't able to help. It's funny now... my poor brother was kicking and swinging his arms like a monkey. I told him if he is going to fight like that, the next time he better run!

2. What was YOUR naughtiest childhood memory? (Must be something YOU did, no pawning it off on someone else!)
Naughty? haha I could give you plenty of naughty memories from my teenage years. But childhood? So, I don't know if this is considered "naughty" but... I have two brother. One is 9 months younger, the other is 4 years younger....

When I was about 10 years old, I was looking for a way to make quick money. I came up with the idea to have my very own bedroom garage sale. I would set up toys and other items I didn't want anymore. I put tiny price tags on everything. Then, I announced to my brothers that they would have the opportunity to buy my great toys! I charged them $1.00 to enter my room and they chose toys to buy from me. For just 10 years old, I thought I did very well. Making money for nothing? haha So, I held a garage sale every weekend. When I started running low on "inventory" , I would sneak into my brother's rooms and take my stuff back, only to re-sale it.

I still can't believe I did that. Even worst, I wish they were still naive, so I could hold bedroom garage sales now. No doubt, I would make triple the amount I made back then!

3. Where do you like to go to relax?
Relax? What's that?

4. What was the last thing you won?
A beautiful Mirra package from Thrifty and Frugal Living. It was amazing. I won shampoo and conditioner, body wash, lotion and re-molding cream. How is this remolding cream supposed to work? I'm still waiting for my face to "re-mold" to the way it looked pre-pregnancy!

5. If you could be on a game show, which would you choose?
I would say The Price is Right, but only if Bob Barker was hosting. I love Drew Carey, but tries way to hard to be funny. So, if Bob wouldn't host for me, I would choose Wheel of Fortune.

Getting To Know You - May 2, 2010

1. Are you superstitious?
No, that just seems silly to me. Although when I was younger, I truly thought if I stepped on a crack, I would break my momma's back. Hey, is there a crack around here?!

2. If you were an animal..what kind would you be?
A cat. What could be better then eating and sleeping all day with no responsibility?!

3. You would never catch me wearing.........?
Skinny Jeans. Yuck, so ready for that trend to pass.

4. If someone posts a VLOG..do you watch it?
I've never seen one before, and would definitely be interested.

5. Have you ever waxed your girlie/manly parts..or any other part of your body?
I wax...often.

6. Are you a spender or a saver?
Ha, there's nothing left to save!

7. If you were starring in a movie..who would you want to play your leading man/woman?
Ian Somerhalder with a side of John Travolta!!

8. Smoker..never smoked..social smoker..or smoked back in the day?
Ah, when I was 16 I started smoking because I thought it was "cool". I hated it then, but along the way I started to like it and became addicted. I've tried to quit... still trying.

Do Kids Contribute To Clutter?

I have never been an extremely organized person. But I certainly have never considered myself to be unorganized. Everything has its own place, and although it may look messy to others, I know exactly where to find something when I need it.

Is it just me, or does having kids add to the clutter? I find myself cleaning at least twice a week and tidying up daily. My step children live with their mother, so my husband and I just have one child in our home. Why on earth is my son's toothbrush in my bedroom? How did my purse end up in the refrigerator?! It seems no matter how many times I clean or re-organize, everything always ends up in my bedroom. I thought a corner tv stand was for a television. So why is it my husband and son manage to pile everything from change, to dvd's, to a tape measure and even an old flip flop on top of our stand? Perhaps we need to invest into something larger?

Please tell me I am not the only woman who feels as if her bedroom is shrinking due to clutter!

What do you do to keep everything neat and organized?

Do you think kids contribute to clutter and if so, where is the strangest place you have found something out of its place?

1 - What drugs have you done in your life? tylenol, nyquil, asprin, benadryl, metformin.. Oh you mean illegal drugs? I'm going to have to plead the 5th on that. But, if I were to ever have experimented, it would have been with pot.

3 - Do you pick your nose? No, never! Okay, at least not when anyone is looking. And only if it is absolutely necessary.

5 - List the URL, of what you believe to be the best blog post you've ever done? That's a tough one. Most of my posts are reviews/giveaways, so each is different in it's own way. Just One Of Those Days

Have you ever had a day where nothing went right? Everything terrible that could happen, did?

Well I am having one of those days!

My son and I have impetigo. My son's doctors office is giving us the runaround and is obviously more concerned with stuffing their pockets then the well being of my child. He's developed the worst possible attitude a few months shy of his 2nd birthday. Tantrums all day and I have the worst Migraine ever. He usually takes a 2 hour nap; today he wouldn't sleep at all.

I dropped the butter and the container cracked, splattering butter all over the floor. Our puppy chewed up my favorite pair of shoes. My husband is out of town for work and I am counting down the hours 'til bedtime. My cell phone isn't working. I have been having trouble with Blogger and Enom all day.

This is just the beginning. Have you ever just had one of those days? I feel like crying and just want this day to end!

I forgot the whole point to this was to apologize in my delay in posts. After my son goes to bed (if he will sleep), I have several reviews and giveaways to write, so bare with me, they will be here soon!

We Love To Share, but Stay Away; You Don't Want This!

I have been trying to teach the importance of sharing with my 21 month old son. Since, he is an only child, he is spoiled. That's why I feel it is especially important for me to teach him to share with others without being greedy.

Well, I think he's taken it a bit too far! Can you guess what Ayden has shared with mommy?
Image Itchy and Scratchy Cat and Mouse
Chicken Pox!!!

At least, I am pretty certain this is what we both have. I noticed a bump on his neck, but didn't think much of it. He's a little boy and he's always into or up to something mischievous. But yesterday I had a bump on my chin. I knew it wasn't a pimple but I have a bad habit of picking, so I picked it. The bump seemed to be gone after oozing a bit. I woke up this morning and my chin was itchy. I itched it and noticed a scab. So, I grabbed my tweezers and pulled it off. Wouldn't you know the bump is back and so is the scab. It itches so bad and is very painful from picking. There are two more bumps on each side.

This morning, Ayden had a strawberry pop-tart. He had strawberry filling all over his face. I did my best to wipe it off using a baby wipe. There was one spot he wouldn't let me get. I scrubbed and scrubbed but it wouldn't come off. Wouldn't you know, it was not strawberry filling, it's the same bump I have on my chin? Way to go mom. I'm not sure if it is Chickenpox or not. I thought we would have more, but it's ironic that we both have the same bumps on our faces. So, if you are looking to miss a few days of work, stop on by. Otherwise, stay far far away!

What Will I Ever Do?!

You may remember my Maybelline Expert Wear Eye Shadow teaser. Well here it is, 2am and I just finished applying my eyeshadow and taking pictures to share with my review. I've spent the last 20 minutes trying to figure out why I didn't have the option to upload my pictures. Did I mention we just got a new puppy? *Sigh* It seems like clothes and babies are not the only thing Max likes to chew on. My USB cord is history. I am nothing without my USB cord! Errr! I will do my best to find a new one tomorrow.

Potty Training Is Just So Much Fun! (Not)

My son, Ayden is 21 months old and we haven't quite mastered potty training yet. Okay, maybe that's a lie. We are far from even being close to being potty trained. At first, I thought it would be easy. One day he grabbed his diaper and started doing his own little version of "the pee-pee dance", so I took him to the potty and he went right away. But he's only done it that one time. I will take him to the potty and we will sit forever without ever going potty. Lately, he will come and get me after he has already gone potty.
Today, I put him down for his nap as usual. When I went to get him out of bed, he was standing up and pointing to the mattress. I noticed it was wet. I told him that his diaper must have leaked and began to pick him up when to my surprise, I noticed he wasn't wearing a diaper. I asked Ayden where his diaper was and he just started laughing and telling me he went pee-pee. This is my first child, so I never expected this to happen. I'm just glad it was only pee-pee!

Moms - Receive a Free Paid Scholarship

It's so easy to put ourselves and our education on the back burner. When it comes to family, our spouses and our children always come first. Every year, I tell myself I am going to go back to school, but I just get caught up in the hustle and bustle that I end up unintentionally putting it off.

When we, as moms, put our education on hold, we may be helping our family at the present moment, but we are only hurting them in the long-run. There is so much to learn and to gain from furthering our education. I know for me, money is one of the reasons I have put it off for so long. I'm sure with the economy in the shape that it is, this is the same reason for many moms.

I recently saw a segment on The Tyra Show discussing moms and education. The Tyra Show has teamed up with Project Working Mom who is providing more than $5 Million in scholarships for working moms and dads to pursue their education online. Now I don't normally enter contests but this is one I just can't refuse. The worst that can happen is me being told told no. And you and I have the same chances as winning as anyone else so I'm writing my essay and praying I will win.

Details:
94 winners will be given an online scholarship
Scholarship Amount (depending on courses) $688 and not more than $50,000
Must enter by March 1, 2010
All submitted essays must be in English and no longer than 1500 words in total
Please see official rules and guidelines

Not My Problem!!!

Okay, so I haven't been sleeping well lately. The past 3 nights I am still tossing and turning at 4am. My husband got home from work today and I asked him to watch our 20month old so I could take a quick nap. I was shocked at his response!

"Not My Problem"

We argued for a few minutes before I gave up. I honestly had a better chance of seeing the president in my living room then getting to take a nap. But since it's not his problem, he's obviously telling me it's my problem he snores like a freight train preventing me from sleeping. What happened both people in a marriage working together and helping each other out? Whatever. I'm so over it. 3 Words For You Honey...

NOT MY PROBLEM!!!

When you want me to cook your dinner, Not my problem.
When you don't have any clean clothes for work, Not my problem.
You can't get any... Not MY Problem.
