The Perfect Salsa Bowl Under $15

When you ask someone what their favorite food is, you don’t expect them to say salsa. Many people would consider salsa a condiment, but when you live in the south and eat as much salsa as I do, you come to realize the fact that maybe salsa is a food. With that said, I have just found the most perfect salsa dish ever made!

Salsabol  salsa-bowl

The Salsabol is an elegantly crafted ceramic bowl that puts an end to spilled salsa messes forever! It features a unique, patent-pending lip that pushes your salsa or dip back onto your chip for the perfect scoop, every time!

This salsa bowl or Salsabol is made with incredible functionality and unique modern design to create a playful party piece that adds style and flavor to any table. It’s half revolutionary, half brilliant, and half ridiculous--but it will make your parties awesome and your chips (and guests) happy.

The Salsabol is on sale for just $13.00. Click here to buy.

Sexy & Affordable Aprons: Flirty Aprons Review

brown-apronShopping for aprons in stores is easier said then done. As a self proclaimed shopaholic, I  have taken my fair share of trips to more stores than I can even keep track of. When I finally find the apron section, they are complete with boxy shapes, plain solid colors and iron-on graphics. So, in quest of cute aprons I would actually look forward to wearing, I found a chic online boutique known none other than Flirty Aprons.

What can you expect to find at Flirty Aprons? Well, they carry a great selection of flirty aprons, of course. But their aprons aren’t just flirty. Designed for today’s modern women, their women’s aprons are chic, feminine and absolutely adorable. Flirty aprons also carries matching stylish gloveables or gloves, children’s aprons and masculine men’s aprons.

For my review, I chose the women’s original style Very Cherry apron. I was immediately impressed by the fast shipping. Upon receiving my apron, I took notice to the excellent quality- everything is very well made from the stitching to the double layers to the placement of the neck and waist ties. The Very Cherry Apron is even more adorable in person!

Cherry-Apron cherry-apron-back

This apron ( and all Women’s Flirty Aprons) is sold as “one size fits all”. Being a plus size woman, I avoid “one size fits all” sizing whenever possible because in most cases “one size fits all” only fits sizes smaller than a 12. I was pleasantly surprised at how well my apron fit. The neck ties and waist ties are made with a very generous length, which makes this a true “one size fits all”. The waist tie can be tied in the back, front or side. I am a full figured woman and had no problem tying in the front. I even had enough material to tie a cute bow!

                “Skinny Model”                                 “Plus Size Mommy”

This isn’t a great picture, but you can see how well it comfortably sits. The neck tie can be tied tighter for more coverage in the chest/neck area. I prefer to tie mine loosely, which as you can see still provides enough protection. I never thought I would feel sexy in the kitchen. With my Flirty Apron, it is impossible to feel anything less.

This apron reminds me of a retro apron or vintage apron, only much more practical. I love the white background with the stunning pop of red cherries scattered throughout. The Very Cherry apron features two pockets in the center which come in handy for measuring spoons, spices and other small items. The beautiful red and white striped ruffles give this stylish apron a sophisticated feminine touch. The only downfall to this apron is the fact that it is so cute I’m afraid to ruin it!

Ceramcor Xtrema Cookware Review and Giveaway

XTREMA-LOGO

If you think all cookware is created equal, you haven’t tried Xtrema by Ceramcor. Xtrema Ceramic Cookware is like no other product on the market: free of poisonous toxins, allows extreme versatility, provides consistent heat throughout and so much more!

Now that I have a family, I feel it is important to cook healthy meals on a regular basis. Most of the pots and pans I have were given to me by my mother. Although they may have once worked well for her, I can definitely tell they are cheap pots and pans. Every piece of food seems to stick, regardless if non-stick spray is used. I didn’t realize how long it took to cook food on my current cookware, until I tried Xtrema.

Xtrema-Skillet

Although the features certainly sound amazing, they weren’t enough to convince me. I decided to put my 10" Open Ceramic Skillet to the test. The instructions included with my new cookware recommended I start by using a medium heat setting for just 1 to 2 minutes. It also indicates the Xtrema pan may take a little extra time to get fully heated. I found this to be no problem at all. In fact it was ideal for me. I placed my Xtrema skillet on a medium-low setting while I prepped my chicken breasts. Once Xtrema is fully heated, it is recommended that the heat setting be adjusted to a lower setting because Xtrema retains heat much longer than a standard skillet or pan. Once I finished prepping my chicken, I sprayed the skillet with a light olive oil non-stick spray and added my chicken strips.

012

Our stove is electric, which in my opinion is the worst type of range to cook on. When I cook on my electric stove, I find that it always takes such a long time to heat up. Not only that, but the heat is not consistent throughout. With large pans, I am always forced to move all of the food contents to the center. Xtrema was completely opposite. I was able to place the chicken along the rim of the pan and found that they cooked just as well as the pieces in the center.

Adding to its versatility, Xtrema is safe for oven use, microwave use, toaster ovens, microwaves, and yes, even on the grill. Xtrema can be stored safely in the freezer or refrigerator.

018

Not only did my Xtrema skillet provide even and consistent heat throughout, but our Xtrema skillet retained the heat which allowed the chicken to cook much faster than our other non-stick cookware. Many cookware brands claim to have non-stick cookware. Many are just coated and scratch very easily. I used metal tongs and purposely tried to scratch the skillet. I am so happy to tell you I was unsuccessful. It was impossible to scratch my Xtrema pan. Because Xtrema is truly a real nonstick pan, it cannot release harmful particles into your food. Xtrema is 100% non-toxic, is made with natural minerals, contains no harmful PTFE coating.

While my chicken did not stick, the seasonings I used did. I actually took the chicken with my tongs and rubbed it across the seasonings in the pan. The seasonings then adhered to the chicken, which added extra flavor!

I like that I can use any type of utensil with Xtrema. I am not limited to using a wooden spoon or plastic spatula. Xtrema recommends using pot holders when handling hot Xtrema bakeware in all cooking methods – oven, broiler, stovetop, microwave, toaster oven and barbeque grill. However, I was able to comfortably grip the handle without the use of potholders.

salad

Wow! I know I am a terrible photographer, but I never thought a salad could look so delicious! The chicken cooked in my Xtrema skillet was juicy, tender and full of flavor. My husband commented that I need to cook in my new pan every night because it was a nice change from the dry chicken I usually serve. Xtrema is everything I could have ever asked for plus more. It’s versatile, dishwasher safe, non-stick, heavy-duty, offers a sleek design, and works better than anything I have ever tried. I never in my life thought I would like cookware this much, but I LOVE my Xtrema Skillet!

Xtrema may be a bit pricier than your standard cookware, but it is honestly worth every cent! I have spend hundreds more on my cookware collection and the only pan I use now is my Xtrema Skillet. Xtrema offers a 50 year warranty, which adds ease. Christmas is only a few months away and their 16 Piece Ceramic Cookware Set is already on my list!

Tuesday's Tasty Treats - Cheddar Chicken

Growing up, my mother tried to teach me to cook, but I insisted I could live off of Ramen Noodles forever. If my family would let me, I would probably cook them every night. My husband would wither away if all I cooked was Ramen Noodles. I am not creative in the kitchen and I prefer to cook meals that are quick and easy. One of those quick meals is a simple, yet scrumptious coated chicken.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup crushed Special K / Cornflakes cereal
  • 6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 1/8 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Add cornflakes to a large ziplock bag and crush until flakes.
3. Mix cornflakes, parmesan cheese and cheddar cheese.
4. Dip the chicken breasts in melted butter, then roll in the cornflake crumb mixture.
5. Place chicken in a lightly greased baking dish.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 - 40 minutes, until juices run clear.

Enjoy!

No Bake Chocolate Oatmeal CookiesThese cookies are not the prettiest, but they are definitely the most delicious cookies I have ever tasted! Spicy Southern Tuna Boat Recipe

S.S Tuna Boat Recipe
Spicy Southern Tuna Boat

Spicy Southern Tuna Boat
This recipe is one of my favorites! Several years ago, a girlfriend of mine offered me a tuna sandwich. When I saw her using ranch dressing instead of mayonnaise, I told her no way! She talked me into it, and I have been using ranch as a substitute ever since. If you are trying to watch your sodium intake, you may want to pass on this recipe. Otherwise, if you are daring enough, I hope you will try it. No one in my family liked tuna until they tried this. Now they are always begging me to make it. I hope you enjoy!

All ingredients usedIngredients:
  • 2 Celery Stalks
  • 1 Small Onion or 1/2 cup peeled
  • 2 Boiled Egg Whites
  • Chunk Light Tuna, Drained
  • 2 Tsp Pepper
  • 1 Tsp Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning
  • 1/4 Tsp Paprika
  • Pinch of Cajun seasoning or substitute for chili powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Seasoned Salt
  • 1/4 Cup of Ranch Dressing
  • 1/2 Small Jalapeno
  • 1 Large Green Bell Pepper, cut into 4 even sections
Directions:
  • Cut celery, onion, and jalapeno into small enough pieces to be tossed in a food processor.
  • Add tuna, celery, onion, jalapeno, tomato, eggs white and seasoning to the food processor and process until your reach desired consistency. I prefer mine a bit more runny and usually process for 15-30 seconds. If you like a chunky texture, process time should be able 5-10 seconds.
  • Spread tuna on bell pepper & enjoy!
Note: Also tastes great with melted American cheese on top!
