Affordable Scarves Review: Charlotte Tie Dyed Scarf

Fall 2010 Fashion Trends are officially upon us… and I’m absolutely loving every single second of  it!  Scarves just happen to be one of my favorite fall accessories. Adding a scarf is an effortless and affordable way to add a touch of style to any ensemble. Contrary to what many people believe, scarves can be (and should be) worn year round!

Living in North Texas, I am no stranger to the scorching hot summers, warm fall seasons, and mild winters. Temperatures above 70° are not uncommon for winters in North Texas. Keeping this in mind, I knew I wanted a lightweight scarf to serve more as a fashion accessory rather than a winter scarf to keep me warm. I came across the Charlotte Tie-Dyed Scarf and knew I had to have it!

The Charlotte Tie Dyed Scarf is available in the colors Blue-Multi or Pink and Black. Pink is one of my favorite colors to wear, so I chose the pink and black. The Charlotte Tie-Dyed Scarf is a beautiful lightweight scarf which pairs deep black and bright pink with a splash of white to add a pop of color to any outfit.

The viscose fabric has the feel of soft organic cotton, and is lightweight so you can wear it year round. I usually don’t wear tie-dyed print, but this scarf is absolutely stunning. The long length makes it easy to wear in so many ways.

The care instructions have an “X” marked through a washing machine, an iron, and a few other boxy shapes. I’m not quite clear on the proper way to wash this scarf, but I have hand washed mine and laid flat to dry and it works wonderfully. Smitten NYC Clothing Review

Inspired by 1940’s romantic comic books, Smitten NYC Clothing combines retro details with modern cuts to create a feminine, chic, trendy clothing line for today’s stylish woman. Smitten Clothing is driven by the idea to help everywoman feel “Smitten” which is why they offer fabulous clothing pieces such as cardigan sweaters, flattering dresses, casual trendy shirts, cute dressy tops, and sleeveless tank tops.

Smitten has a generous selection of classic tank tops with a high-end designer feel to them. Summer is the idea season to wear tank tops, but here in Texas, they are worn all year round. Keeping this in mind, I wanted something that I would enjoy wearing throughout the year. After several fun hours of shopping and contemplating, I decided on the Tank with Cartoon Detail.

 

The Cartoon Detail Tank features a deep scoopneck in front, and mid scoop in back. It is made with beautiful stitching detail along the arm line as well as double stitching at the hemline. The hemline includes a wide band with a small slit on each side. The bust area features a pocket on the left side with the whimsical detail of two comic characters sharing a passionate kiss.

From first glance, you will only see the top of the (comic) man’s head. Once you pull the pocket outwards, the romantic kiss is revealed. The photo shown above resembles the pocket’s comic book detail, only without the “Smitten” thought bubble.

This white tank top is made from 100% cotton and is undeniably the softest tank top I have ever worn. The material is much more lightweight compared to a traditional cotton t-shirt. If I hadn’t read the label, I would not believe this tank was made from cotton. It feels more like a delicate silk or rayon/wool blend. The care instructions are easy to follow: hand wash, lay flat to dry. This tank top is very well made and looks brand new after several washes.

Subtle, clever stitching gives this shirt the appearance of an expensive sweater rather than a plain tank top.The Tank with Cartoon Detail can be worn casually with shorts, jeans, or capris and flip flops throughout the warmer months. Yet,this tank proves its versatility when paired with a nice pair of denim jeans, leggings, or dress pants and  blazer for a polished, dressed up, sophisticated look through the cooler months. I could not have made a better selection! This tank provides everything I was looking for.

There is a bit of sheerness to this top, allowing the skin tones to be exposed. If you would like to appear modest, pairing a camisole is a quick and easy resolution. I actually found this to be a great feature, as it only adds to its versatility. In respect to sizing, it appears Smitten NYC clothing may run large. Normally, I require an X-Large, but their available clothing sizes are X-Small-Large. I chose large and it fits me perfectly. I was not able to locate a sizing chart, but Smitten will respond to any questions via email or telephone.

Smitten’s website is super easy to navigate and it took me no time at all to fall in love with their beautiful collection of vintage inspired clothing. Once you see their latest styles, you will understand why I had such a hard time choosing just one item. Here are a few items on my wish list:

Now that summer is here, it’s time to pull out the shorts, capris and sexy tank tops. Just like any other time of year, I want to look sexy and slim. I LOVE my Slimpressions Tank!! This is truly the best body slimmer ever! My body has never been the same since having a child. It’s so bad that hubby jokes about my “kangaroo pouch” – that awful lower belly pudge that seems to never go away following childbirth. Tanks A Little compresses and hides my belly. One of the things I like it the long length. Most shapers aren’t long enough, causing everything to bulge out beneath the shaper. Tanks A Little sits at the hips which smoothes the body and provides a natural slim appearance.

I definitely don't want my breasts to appear smaller, which is why I chose this particular tank. This scooped tank sits comfortably below the breasts to provide a generous lift, which is great for any woman! I like to wear mine with a pushup bra to make the “girls” nice and perky again. The back provides complete coverage and smoothes out unwanted back fat. I have also notice my posture improves while wearing my Tanks A Little.

Tanks A Little is a great shaper for summer because it has shoulder straps that can easily be hidden under a cute tank top. The straps stay in place, as does everything else. I was so happy to see this control top stay in place. I have worn it on several occasions, and it hasn’t rolled up once.

I bought a pair of new capris in a size too small.  I have been wearing them, but my only option is to zip the fly half way, tuck the flaps in and wear a belt to hide the fact that I can’t zip them all of the way. When I wear my Slimpressions tank, I can zip my capris all of the way. They are even loose in the waist! When I put on my Tanks A Little, I instantly look at least ten pounds slimmer! My body appears smooth and my love handles vanish! Months ago, I would never leave home without a tube of mascara – Now, I never leave without my Tanks A Little. The Sunshine and Rainbow dress is made of a soft warm gray polyester and covered in beautiful, fun, bright blue, green, red and yellow flowers. This modest dress features a soft v-neck and a spandex “band” beneath the bust to provide a comfortable and flattering, yet fitted appearance. This dress is fitted at the hips and gradually widens towards the hem, creating a feminine hourglass silhouette. I find the cap sleeves to be simply adorable especially with the dainty ruffles at the hem. You can easily dress this up with a pair of heels or flats or dress it down with a pair of matching flip flops. I love how this dress has a nice flow to it and most importantly, I love how incredibly comfortable it it. The dress is knee length in the photo, however I am 5’9, so it’s just an inch or two shorter on me. It is very modest, chic and playful. You can wear a camisole for added color, but since the v-neck is not deep, you a camisole is not necessary.

Wild Texas Wear Review

In the spirit of Texas and in the hearts of all Texans, Wild Texas Wear has designed a line of "Texas Inspired Apparel". Their inspiration comes from the Texas Gulf Coast to the high plains of the Texas Panhandle, from the rich black soil of East Texas to the wild West Texas, from the oil workers to cowboys and cowgirls, from the big cities along the Interstates to the small towns on the county roads. Their hearts, souls and passions are in Texas.

I know what you may be thinking- Texans wear cowboy boots with spurs, long-sleeved button down shirts, mom jeans and cowboy hats, so why would I want to dress like that? Although you will find true cowboys wearing such apparel, the majority of us dress just like anyone else.

I don’t normally wear hats, but I fell completely in love with the Women’s Cowgirl Hat with Turquoise. Women – Cowgirl hats set you apart from the crowd, give you a little confidence boost and make you look instantly sexy. What man can resist a southern girl?I love just about everything at Wild Texas Wear and I could go on and on about their unique apparel, but let’s save that for another time. The first Item I received was the Ladies Cupid Shorts. These shorts are made from 80% Polyester and 20% French Terry. These comfy women’s shorts are sold in red with white designs or white with pink designs and are available in sizes small – 2xl.

I received the White shorts, which I have been wearing since I received them. I love how soft and comfortable they are. On the right front side a Wild Texas Wear logo is printed and the left front features a dainty pink tribal design surrounding the shape of Texas. On each side of that is a matching pink heart. These shorts include a covered elastic waistband with a drawstring which allows for maximum comfort. The inseam is 3 inches including the double needle hemmed bottom. I rarely wear shorts, but I can’t seem to take these off. I have without a doubt found the most comfortable shorts and my favorite lounge wear!



Wild Texas Wear has a wide selection of women’s tank tops. I was so excited to receive the Ladies Texas 1836 Tank. This tank top is available in six color options- red, violet, light blue, light pink, white and black. The sizes in this classic tank top also range from small to 2xl. Texas 1836 is printed across the front chest with the Wild Texas Wear tagline at the bottom left corner (Texas won its independence from Mexico on April 21, 1836). I love the bold design and the overall feminine look of this tank top. The material is made from preshrunk 100% cotton jersey and is very soft. I received the blue tank which actually looks more like a bright bluish- turquoise. This tank top would be great for layering or worn alone.



I also received the Respect a Texas Lady Tee. This soft 100% cotton t-shirt features a retro cowgirl taking aim and sending the message “ Respect a Texas Cowgirl”.  This tee is available in white, sand, and Texas Orange- you know the beautiful burnt orange color just like the best college  football team, the Texas Longhorns! I received the white t-shirt and although the size is too small for me, this shirt is designed to fit like a baby tee, or very snug. I gave this shirt to my mother and she absolutely loves how soft it feels and and flattering it is.

Normally, I would say “ I saved the best for last” but in this case I love all of the Wild Texas Wear products I received! The last item I received is the Rhinestone Bracelet. I must first tell you I am not a fan of anything that resembles cow skin. I have always thought it looked tacky, until I saw this unique bracelet. I loved it so much, I emailed a picture to my closet friends bragging about it. Take a look for yourself….


The Rhinestone Bracelet is made of genuine hair on hide and features a crystal filled cross in the center. There are 3 large pearlescent rhinestones on each side of the cross along with several tiny rhinestones and silver studs. This bracelet is lined with a silver beaded strand and is designed to fit most women by including a snap closure with three sizing options. This trendy bracelet is high quality and it certainly shows. I love how the light reflects off of the rhinestones. The Rhinestone Bracelet is comfortable, and I love receiving compliments every time I wear it! If you are looking for a unique piece of jewelry to really complete your outfit and set you apart from others, I highly recommend the Rhinestone Bracelet!

Texas has such a unique history  which is part of the reason I am proud to be a Texan. As Wild Texas Wear would say “ there are only two types of people in this world: First, there are Texans. Second, there are people who wish they were Texans.” I am lucky enough to belong in the first category. Cover Your Bum With A Hip- T

We have all seen it, or even worse, that person could have been us! You know what I am talking about - the dreaded muffin top, flashing your thong to complete strangers or even showing off your butt crack. Just because your boyfriend claims you have the cutest butt ever, does not mean the whole world wants to see it!

Hip-T is an ingenious product! Hip-T is a cotton/spandex band that provides midriff to below waist coverage when your shirt rises up or your jeans slide down from bending or reaching. When worn around the mid-section, Hip-T creates a nice layering effect without adding bulk.

Hip- T sent me a Basic Black Hip-T. I was worried that my Hip-T would roll over when I sat down. I was very impressed at how well it stayed in place all day long. I loved the fact that it smoothed out my tummy, hiding my love handles and giving me a leaner appearance. Hip-T's are so comfortable, you won't even know you are wearing one. Hip-T can also be worn with shirts that have shrunk. My husband washed a new shirt of mine and it shrunk up about 2 inches. I wore my Hip-T with my shrunken shirt and did not have to worry about showing off too much skin. Please. for the sake of everyone, please wear a Hip-T!

I'm not much of a scarf wearer because they make me feel restricted and hot. The Hoola Scarf is different from transitional scarfs because they can be worn three different ways. I especially loved my Hoola because it was so lightweight and allowed room for me to breath. These are perfect for spring or even the hot summer months here in Texas.

RoadKill T-Shirts Review

RoadKill has the largest section of t-shirts I have ever seen. One of my favorite shopping features is that they allow you to customize your t-shirt. Once you find a shirt you like, you choose the style. There are so many choices to choose from!


In addition to customizing the style of the t-shirt, you also have the option to select your preferred color. Finally, you have the option to select your size. RoadKill sizes range from size small all the way up to 6XL. I really wanted the tank top style "All Men Are Idiots, I Married Their King" shirt. However, my husband is a big man. We always have a hard time finding t-shirts in extended sizes. Since RoadKill T-shirts have sizes all the way up to 6XL, I let him select a t-shirt.

He chose the "If U Can Read This T-Shirt..." I'm married to a 33 year old big kid. While most of the time he is hilarious, his sense of humor sometimes tends to be on the raunchy side. I think many men have this type of humor, and would love the large selection of offensive t-shirts at Roadkill. I ordered him a 3X tall tee because he is always complaining that his t-shirts are too short. When he saw the shirt, he commented that it would be too big. However, when he put it on, it fit perfectly! It looked great on him and obviously it felt great too, because he wore it 2 days in a row before I insisted on washing it for him. I found RoadKill T-Shirts to be true to size which is important when shopping online. These shirts are great quality and very durable. I've washed this shirt several times and the color is still bright and bold as if it were brand new.
