Softlips Review and Giveaway

  We often purchase beauty products to help us look younger, or help us look more “put together” and to boost our confidence. Often times we focus on areas that need improvement. For instance, I would never dream of leaving my house without mascara on. When focusing on our flaws, it is easy to overlook areas that need protection. We all know the importance of applying sunscreen when we are exposed to the sun, and it is just as important to protect our lips.

I received the Shell Pink Lip Balm and Natural Honesty Lip Balms. At first glance, I thought I would hate the Natural Honesty balm. The color on the package looked like a tan or cool brown shade. I applied it to my lips and very pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t brown at all- in fact it matched my natural lip color perfectly. It actually made my lips look fuller, and I loved how they still looked natural. The Shell Pink is a beautiful light pink shade with a hint of shimmer. Both were easy to apply and lightweight. These are the perfect lip balms for summer time.

 The next product I tried was the Sheer Lip Gloss. These glosses are available in 3 beautiful summer shades – Coral Charm, Natural Honesty and Shell Pink. The Natural Honesty is the same shade as the Lip Balm, only it leaves a glossy finish. The Shell Pink is a beautiful shimmery pink. Normally, when I hear coral, I think orange. Most coral colors have an orange hint to them. This is not orange at all. This gloss looks a lot darker from the tube then it actually is. I love this shade and am still trying to decide which one I like the most. This is a very natural shade, and I can only best describe it as a pinkish-nude color. It looks great on me and I am sure this color would compliment nearly every skin tone. All of these glosses are 100% natural and contain SPF 15. I am so ecstatic to have been given the opportunity to try the Soft Lips Lip Glosses. I normally pay $20.00 for my designer gloss, which does not even contain sunscreen. The last two products I received are a must have for anyone in need of relief from dry, cracked lips. The first is 100% Natural Lip Butter. This is the perfect lip moisturizer for anyone looking for lip protection without adding color. There is no scent, no color and my lips feel better than they have in years!

The second of the two, is the Soft Lips Lip Polish. Just as you would exfoliate your body to remove dead skin, the Lip Polish contains sugar crystals to remove dry, flaky skin from your lips. The lip polish suggests you rinse with water after massaging, but water is not absolutely necessary. I used a damp washcloth to wipe clean, revealing smooth, soft, healthy-looking lips. The crystals in this polish are microscopic and though much gentler than a body scrub, they work effectively at removing loose, dead skin. This fragrance free polish is non-greasy, and thick so it will not leave a runny mess. The best part, besides the cheap $5.99 price tag is that it tastes great, just like sugar and it helps to heal your lips, leaving them incredibly moisturized.

I have been using my Verilux ClearWave Soothing Skin System for one month now and the only thing I can say, is I wish I would have found this sooner! I have had an acne scar for several months. I have tried both prescription acne creams and over the counter topical medication and nothing has helped. I was certain I would live with that ugly scar forever. Yu-Be Review

Yu-Be is a Glycerin-based moisturizing cream developed by the Japanese pharmacist, Yoshikiyo Nowatari . Moisturizing Cream

This multi-purpose moisturizing cream can be used to help provide relief for a number of skin conditions such as: painful split cuticles, tough calluses, hard cracked heels, burns and severely dry skin. In addition Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream also reduces symptoms associated with rashes, Eczema, inflammation, itching and Dermatitis. This may be applied directly to the skin and/or lips. There is a light camphor fragrance (which I love! ) but the fragrance does fade away quickly. Over the past several months, I have developed a rough skin patch on my elbow. I have tried several skin creams and moisturizers but nothing has helped. After using Yu-Be for just over one week, the dry skin patch has improved significantly. My rough elbows have become much softer and the rough patch is nearly gone!  The Moisturizing Skin Cream is non-greasy and noticeably locks in moisture. Prior to using this cream, I had flaky skin. As soon as I apply the moisturizer, the flakes are gone, and my elbows are instantly relieved! Body Lotion

Similar to the moisturizing cream, the body lotion has the same camphor scent, yet it has  a slightly lighter texture. I have been using this product religiously on my dry legs and arms. I was very impressed at how quickly this lotion was absorbed and at how soft and hydrated my skin feels.  Yu-Be Moisturizing Body Lotion comes in a 10.25oz bottle with a convenient pump. This is a great product to provide your skin with year round moisture and hydration.

Foaming Skin Polish

Foaming Skin Polish is made from fine grains of rice bran and combined with bamboo and gentle cleaning agents to create a luxurious foaming scrub. Like the other products from Yu-Be, this may also be used on the face. Ginger root and ginseng work together to tone and balance the skin, while green tea, geranium oil and camphor provide a soothing, cool, refreshing feeling.  The texture is gritty and feels great when massaging against your skin. I would best describe YuBe Skin Polish as a gentle exfoliator. I have been using my scrub all over my body and I am thrilled to say goodbye to my alligator skin. I highly recommend this product to anyone living with extremely dry skin.

Lip Therapy

Lip Therapy soothes, moisturizes and protects dry, painful, chapped lips. This all-natural lip balm has no artificial colors, fragrances, oils or petroleum. I suffer from dry chapped lips year round. Products I have used in the past seem to irritate my lips, making them more dry. Yu-Be Lip Therapy glides on smoothly and stays on for hours, even through drinking and eating. There is a light camphor scent which fades within just seconds. I love that this is non-sticky. There is nothing worst than applying a lip balm only to have your hair glued to your lips. My lips feel soft and kissable. I will definitely be buying more of this to keep on hand!

Pirate's Booty Review

When you hear Pirate's Booty, the first thing that probably comes to mind is Johnny Depp in a pair of tights. As nice as that may be, I have something even better to tell you about!

Now, when I hear puffed rice & corn, I think back to the hard and crunchy rice cake snacks my grandma used to give my brothers and me. Pirate's Booty tastes nothing like that! They are almost popcorn- like. They are very airy with a light crunch.

The first flavor I tried was New York Pizza. I cannot even begin to describe how wonderful these taste! They remind me of pizza, only with a zesty crunch. My pizza lover son devoured the entire bag in no time at all. I had to interrupt and remind him to chew. The Sea Salt & Vinegar were tangy from the balsamic vinegar, and had just enough salt to satisfy my craving. Yum, definitely one of my favorites! Barbecue was another one of my favorites. If you like Barbecue chips, you will love these. The flavor tastes very much like the seasoning on Barbecue chips, only better. Next, I tried the Aged White Cheddar. There is no lack of flavor here! These are bursting with cheese flavor and were my absolute favorite!

Each and every bite was a crunchy puff of deliciousness, bursting with flavor! The only thing I didn't like, was we ran out so fast! Pirate's Booty is so good, you won't want to share. Even my two year old can't resist Pirate's Booty. He was eating a chocolate cookie when he saw me open a bag of Pirate's Booty. He pushed his snack aside, and ran towards me screaming "Booty, Booty, Booty!!" I love that I have discovered a healthy snack that my entire family will enjoy, including my picky two year old.

Zevia All Natural Zero Calorie Soda Review

What is Zevia?
Zevia is the first all natural soda containing only pure ingredients. Zevia Soda is made without chemically processed artificial sugar substitutes (aspartame, sucralose, saccharin) artificial flavors or artificial colors found in other diet sodas.

My Opinion

We all know that regular (non-diet) soda contributes to packing on the pounds. Researches also found a link between diet soda and metabolic syndrome. You have a 34% higher chance of developing Metabolic Syndrome by drinking just one can of diet soda a day compared to those who drink none. My health is bad enough as it is. Based on these studies, I've quit drinking soda all together. I'm a total soda addict and it's been tough going without.

My Review
Zevia was gracious enough to send me a mixed case of each of their flavors including (All Natural) Dr. Zevia, Root Beer, Twist, Cola, Orange, Black Cherry, and Ginger Ale. When I drank soda, my favorites were always Coke and Dr. Pepper, so of course my first Zevia to try was Dr. Zevia. The flavor was similar to Dr. Pepper. It had a sweet blend of flavors and was very smooth. It's definitely better then diet sodas similar to Dr. Pepper. And although the taste reminded me of a "diet" soda, it is much better than all of the ones I have tried, including Diet Dr. Pepper.

The Cola was my second flavor to try. It smells very similar to regular coke and the taste is very similar as well. I did notice a bit of a citrus taste, which was very enjoyable. I especially like the fact that there is less of a bite with Zevia's Cola. Coke is so acidic, but Zevia's cola doesn't have that acidic taste/ burn to it. Rootbeer and Black Cherry were my husbands favorites, while my son preferred the Orange.

Zevia Soda's are a great replacement for anyone looking for a natural or healthier alternative. I will definitely be stocking up on Dr. Zevia for myself. If the boys are good, I will purchase their favorites as well. I like the fact that Zevia offers an all natural soda. I feel much more comfortable allowing my child to have this versus a high calorie, high sugar processed alternative.
