Fit For Fall: ZEVIA All Natural Diet Soda Review and Giveaway

ZEVIA is the first all natural zero calorie soda made with only pure ingredients. It uses all-natural sugars such as Stevia and Erythritol (natural sugar alcohol) as well as pure ingredients like natural caramel, natural tartaric acid, citric acid, kola nut extract, natural caffeine, annatto, and ginger root. ZEVIA contains no calories, no carcinogens, no carbohydrates, no fat and little or no sodium (depending on flavor).

ZEVIA sent me six cans of their natural soda to sample. Dr.Pepper is my favorite regular  soda so my first ZEVIA to try was the Dr. ZEVIA. It was very similar in flavor with the perfect blend of sweet goodness. There was nothing “diet” about Dr. ZEVIA. It was smooth, refreshing and delicious all the way to the last drop.

Next up was ZEVIA Ginger Ale. This natural soda is very light, crisp and refreshing. It reminds me of the popular old fashioned Ginger Ale with a delicious hint of ginger with every taste. Like all of the Ginger Ale’s that I know of, ZEVIA’S Ginger Ale is also caffeine free. This is the perfect drink to enjoy on a hot summer day or to help calm and sooth and upset stomach.

Personally, I have never liked Black Cherry Soda. ZEVIA’s Black Cherry was actually one that I enjoyed. It seemed to be very mild with just the right amount of carbonation. It too was smooth and less acidic than other Black Cherry sodas. This one was a huge hit with my toddler.

ZEVIA Ginger Root Beer and ZEVIA Lemon-Lime twist were my husband’s favorites. He loved that the root beer tastes so much like the his favorite brand of old fashioned root beer. Lemon Lime Twist had a great citrus taste, bursting with cool lemon and lime flavors.

The last ZEVIA soda we fought over sampled was ZEVIA Cola. Less acid than most coke and cola’s this is the perfect alternative for the sugary coke addict. The flavor slightly differs from regular coke with a light citrusy taste. Personally, I prefer ZEVIA Cola to the real thing because not only is it better for me, but it does not leave a burning, acidic feeling. ZEVIA Cola is smooth, refreshing and one of our family’s favorites.

Stevia, the sugar used in ZEVIA, has been proven to have no  affect on blood glucose levels. This is a desirable trait for many, especially people living with diabetes or other endocrine disorders, including my family. My husband has been battling a terrible leg infection. After no improvement, we sought the attention of a new physician. After a full physical, we learned my husband is diabetic. I have been living with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), an endocrine syndrome that causes an increase in blood sugar levels. It is so nice to know that despite our medical  conditions, we can still enjoy the great taste of soda, without the high sugar content. Zevia All Natural Zero Calorie Soda Review

What is Zevia?
Zevia is the first all natural soda containing only pure ingredients. Zevia Soda is made without chemically processed artificial sugar substitutes (aspartame, sucralose, saccharin) artificial flavors or artificial colors found in other diet sodas.

My Opinion

We all know that regular (non-diet) soda contributes to packing on the pounds. Researches also found a link between diet soda and metabolic syndrome. You have a 34% higher chance of developing Metabolic Syndrome by drinking just one can of diet soda a day compared to those who drink none. My health is bad enough as it is. Based on these studies, I've quit drinking soda all together. I'm a total soda addict and it's been tough going without.

My Review
Zevia was gracious enough to send me a mixed case of each of their flavors including (All Natural) Dr. Zevia, Root Beer, Twist, Cola, Orange, Black Cherry, and Ginger Ale. When I drank soda, my favorites were always Coke and Dr. Pepper, so of course my first Zevia to try was Dr. Zevia. The flavor was similar to Dr. Pepper. It had a sweet blend of flavors and was very smooth. It's definitely better then diet sodas similar to Dr. Pepper. And although the taste reminded me of a "diet" soda, it is much better than all of the ones I have tried, including Diet Dr. Pepper.

The Cola was my second flavor to try. It smells very similar to regular coke and the taste is very similar as well. I did notice a bit of a citrus taste, which was very enjoyable. I especially like the fact that there is less of a bite with Zevia's Cola. Coke is so acidic, but Zevia's cola doesn't have that acidic taste/ burn to it. Rootbeer and Black Cherry were my husbands favorites, while my son preferred the Orange.

Zevia Soda's are a great replacement for anyone looking for a natural or healthier alternative. I will definitely be stocking up on Dr. Zevia for myself. If the boys are good, I will purchase their favorites as well. I like the fact that Zevia offers an all natural soda. I feel much more comfortable allowing my child to have this versus a high calorie, high sugar processed alternative.
