Fit For Fall: The Bar Method Review and Giveaway

The Bar Method is a fat-burning workout that focuses on elongating the muscles. This workout helps create a lean, firm and sculpted body by combining the muscle-shaping principles of isometrics training (holding long muscular contractions) and the body-elongating practice of dance conditioning.

BAR-METHOD-EXERCISE

The Bar Method is one of those workouts that looks easy, but it is anything but. This method includes performing small, detailed repetitions in interval training. During the workout, you can feel your muscles tightening but afterwards to you feel the burn –the “good burn” that lets you know it is working!

Bar-Method-Dallas

There are about 32 Bar Method studios throughout the United States with several more opening soon. I was excited to learn that there is a Bar Method Studio close to me in Dallas. The cost for just one class is $22. The price per class decreases by $1 when you purchase a package of 5, 10, 20, or 30 classes. As much as I would love to attend a class, the cost isn’t realistic for me. Fortunately, The Bar Method is available on DVD for just $20.00.

I was able to try The Bar Method: Accelerated Workout DVD. This is a 50-minute workout, instructed by it’s creator, Burr Leonard. Also included in this DVD are Catherine Wendel, Jen Hendrick and Jane Culliford- all of which are teachers and owners of Bar Method Studios.

BAR-METHOD-DVD

The workout uses bodyweight for a majority of the exercises. This workout also includes free-weight exercises as well as push-ups to sculpt your shoulders and arms.

You are not required to use a bar for this workout. A sturdy, high-backed chair will do just fine. This exercise will utilize a chair to perform leg exercises and stretches which sculpt and slim down your legs and hips. The floor exercises will target your core (abs).

This DVD begins with a warm-up and includes free-weight exercises and push-ups. This leads into a series of bar exercises that target your legs and buns! The second portion of this DVD features core sculpting, the Bar Method’s sexy “back-dancing” exercise followed by a series of final stretches.

As I mentioned earlier, The Bar Method looked easy enough, but… wow! I can’t believe I actually thought I might be too advanced for something like this. The Bar Method is easy to follow along with. The moves are very precise and each exercise targets a specific area. I could feel my muscles tightening up during the workout – muscles I didn’t even know existed!

I can definitely see more definition in my arms, calves and thighs. Additionally, I have noticed my posture has improved. I was able to see results with The Bar Method after just a few workouts. I love that I can feel muscles that I never even knew I had. My body burns, but it’s such a great burn! I am addicted to The Bar Method!

Equipment Needed: A sturdy chair or portable bar • A soft strap for stretching • Two free weights that are 2 to 4 pounds each (optional)
