Sonic Alert Alarm Clock with Super Shaker

Sonic Alert Logo
Sonic Alert specializes in alert products geared towards the hearing impaired and hard to wake. They have a wide variety of products ranging from amplified alarm clocks, to phones, amplifiers, emergency connects and much more.

I am not a morning person, at all. If I need to wake up at a set time I have to take extreme measures. I have two alarm clocks. Both have two alarms. I have to set both alarm clocks, so that's a total of 4 alarms. I must also set my 3 alarms on my cell phone. In addition to that, I have to have a wake up call. Even then, I somehow manage to sleep right through all 8 alarms.

When I was contacted by Sonic Alert, I had not heard of this company before. I never knew there was such a thing as a vibrating alarm. The idea alone intrigues me. I immediately went straight to their website to find out more. Although Sonic Alert specializes in products for the deaf and elderly, their products seem to be a perfect fit for sleep deprived moms, children and anyone who has a hard time waking up. Because I have such a hard time waking up, I thought this would be the perfect alarm. For my review, I chose the Sweetheart with Super Shaker- SBH400ss. This alarm would be perfect for young girls, teenagers and even moms who love the color pink!

Sonic Alert Vibrating Alarm

SS12V Super Shaker™ bed vibrating unit

Dual Power & Dual Time features:

The SBH400ss clock comes with a 110 volt power supply, will work with an optional 220 volt transformer. Clock also has two switches one allowing user to switch from 60Hz / 110 volts or 50Hz / 220 volts. This feature keeps proper time with 110 or 220 volts. Another switch allows user to select 12/24 hour time.

So what does all of this mean? To help give you a better idea and understanding of the super shaker, I created a demo:

My lighting is not the best. The color of the Sweetheart alarm is hot pink as shown in the picture above. As I mentioned in the video, the Super Shaker has a long cord which allows placement at either end of your bed. You can place it between your mattress and box spring, however I prefer to place it beneath my pillow. The vibration will wake even the heaviest sleepers. The first time I used my alarm, I think I was scared out of bed. I normally blog between 7pm-3am. My son wakes up at 8am, so I need to be up. I have been using this alarm every morning and I have no problems waking up anymore.

With Sonic Alert, it just takes one alarm, which is amazing considering I normally sleep through 8 alarms. My favorite feature, besides the vibrating Super Shaker, is the brightly colored lights. I love how each number is a different color.
I am such a heavy sleeper, so I use the Super Shaker and amplified alarm. For those who would like to wake up without waking everyone else in the room, you are able to use the vibrating feature without the amplified alarm.

I understand a hot pink heart-shaped alarm is not for everyone. Sonic Alert carries a wide section of alarm clocks fit for anyone in the family. The only feature I wish the Sweatheart alarm had is an AM/FM radio. If this is a feature you desire, many of their alarms do include a radio. If you decide to purchase this alarm for your daughter, you have to see Sonic Alert's new "The Skull" alarm. This would be great for any pre-teen/teenage boy!

  1. Ive looked into these before and always wondered how well the would work, I think that shaking would wake me up. I have gone through at least 10 alarms because none of them wake me up.
