Wen Healthy Hair Care System - Review

Image Wen by Chaz Dean Before and After

Over the course of 10 years, I have tried countless amounts of hair products in attempts to revive my damaged, dull, and lifeless hair. You name it, I've tried it. After years of throwing my money down the drain and not finding anything that actually worked, I've gave up. That is, until I had the opportunity to try the Wen Hair Care System.

I recently received the Sweet Almond Mint Wen Haircare System, which included Wen Cleansing Conditioner, Wen Styling Creme, Wen Re-moist Intensive Hair Repair Mask, Wen Texture Balm and Wen Wide Tooth Shower Comb. Wen is like no other hair care system I have ever tried. The cleansing conditioner is made of all natural products. Unlike most traditional shampoos and conditioners, Wen does not contain sodium laurel sulfate or detergents that strip your hair and cause damage. Because of this, Wen does not create a soapy lather. Wen takes the place of both your shampoo and conditioner.

My favorite product from this system is the cleansing conditioner. It has a relaxing mint fragrance. I followed the instructions and as soon as I began massaging the conditioner into my scalp, I felt a great tingling feeling. I had to use a larger amount because my hair is very long and thick. Prior to washing my hair, I was concerned that it would weight my hair down like most conditioners do. After washing my hair, I was pleasantly surprised. Wen's Cleansing Conditioner did not weight my hair down at all. Instead, it was full of volume and shine. My hair felt incredibly silky and smooth. In fact, I couldn't stop touching my hair. It was hard to believe what I was feeling was really my hair. I can't remember my hair ever feeling so healthy! The Cleansing Conditioner can also be used as a leave in conditioner. Since my hair is so long and thick, I require more product. I've gone through half of my bottle in just two uses. For the past several nights, I have been using a dime size amount as a leave in conditioner and my hair feels so lustrous!

image before and afterThe other products included in the Wen Hair Care System are wonderful as well. My hair is naturally curly but I only wear it straight because I can never achieve a consistent curl. Sections of my hair will look curly, others wavy and some straight at the roots with curls at the end. I applied a small amount of the Wen Styling Creme to my damp hair and scrunched it up. When my hair had dried, I had beautiful curls all over. My hair still felt soft and touchable. The styling creme didn't give me the "stiff" or "crunchy" look that most styling products do. I also like the fact that the Wen Styling Creme isn't sticky. After applying the creme to my hair, I rubbed the remaining product into my hands which made them feel very soft. The Re-Moist Intensive Hair Repair Treatment made my hair feel even more silkier! The wide tooth comb isn't a cheap plastic comb you would normally find. It's a very thick and durable comb and works great for evening out the cleansing conditioner in the shower. As for the texture balm, I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet. My layers have grown out and I don't have a need for texture balm. But, I do have a hair appointment scheduled this weekend, and I can't wait to get home and try the texture balm.
