Review: Joovy Kooper Stroller

Kooper_yellow_lrgThe Joovy Kooper Stroller is a lightweight stroller inspired by the euro style buggy with a modern twist. You’ll be strolling in style with a sleek slotted aluminum frame and durable high luster fabric. The Kooper Umbrella Stroller comes in appletree green, red, black, brownie, or lemontree (shown to the left). Features include reclining seat, oversized canopy with sunshade, storage basket, plus roomy cup holders, storage pockets, and ergonomic foam handles with easy one hand push capabilities.

I was over thrilled when our Joovy Kooper came, however, I was reluctant to put it together. I have owned numerous strollers and nearly all of them were difficult to assemble. Since my husband has been working long hours, I was left to assemble this myself. Below I have highlighted the key features I look for in a stroller (tested with a tall, 40lb 2 year old).

Assembly
The easiest stroller I have ever assembled! Prior to removing the Kooper Stroller from its box, I prepared myself by grabbing a few screwdrivers. Fortunately, I didn’t need them!  Simply attach the front and back wheels by inserting each wheel until you hear a "click” sound. Next, attach the sun canopy via side flaps to hook and loop attachment. I was able to assemble this is just under 7 minutes!

Safety
Five-point harness secures child firmly. Unlike a three-point harness, it secures the upper body as well. I never understood why some strollers are made without an upper body harness. My old stroller was a three-point harness and I cannot tell you the number of times my son almost fell out. I feel much safer with our Kooper Stroller.

The Seat
joovy-kooper-seatThe seat features two comfortable seating positions and is designed for children 6  months to 50 pounds. The structured seat back includes multi-position, one-hand recline (149 degrees) options which allows any position from a fully upright position to reclining.

The straps are incredibly easy to adjust. To adjust the height of the straps, twist the buckle on the end of each strap sideways and push it out toward the seat through the slot. Once you have decided which of the 3 heights is best, simply push the buckle through the slot to the back of the seat.

The multiple reclining options is a wonderful feature. I love how far this reclines! My previously owned strollers claim to recline, but there is not much difference in the fully upright position and fully reclined position. The only problem I encountered is while in the fully reclined position, it is nearly impossible to access any items being stored in the storage basket.

The Ride
The Kooper is the smoothest stroller I have ever used! I was able to easily push using just one hand. I found that very ironic considering my previous stroller included a bar for one-handed push but required two hands to accurately steer. The handles are not adjustable which may be something to consider. I found them very comfortable in flats but being 5’9 without shoes made it a bit of a reach when I added 4” heels.

Initially, I had mixed feeling regarding the plastic wheels. I have never liked them but once we started moving, I couldn’t even tell the difference. It’s easy to maneuver, the wheels turn easily and we couldn’t have asked for a smoother ride.

The total weight is 17.9 pounds. It’s very lightweight, making it easy to pick up and carry or load.

Storage
joovykooper-feautresThere is a great amount of storage for both baby and parents. I love the two mesh  pockets located on each side of the seat. My son likes using them for small toys and snacks. They are generously sized to accommodate sippy cups or sport cups, bottles, as well as small snack containers.

The storage basket located beneath the seat is a decent size. It holds up to 5lbs. Personally, I wish it was bigger. I like to store my diaper bag, purse, and shopping bags under the stroller. I’m only able to store one small bag. However, bags can easily be hung over the handles which I thought made up for the size of the storage basket.

The back of the canopy includes two cup holders as well as a zippered pocket beneath the canopy. The cup holders can accommodate baby bottles, water bottles, sippy cups or other slim beverages.

Sun Protection
Kooper Stroller-visor This has the largest canopy I have ever seen! The canopy is detachable and includes a  sunshade or visor.

The canopy and visor can be adjusted into several positions ranging from fully closed to fully extended or any position in between.

There is a roll back window also known as a peek-a-boo-window to keep a close eye on your child.

Cleaning
The fabric can be easily spot cleaned using mild soap or detergent and warm water The frame and wheels can be cleaned using a sponge or cloth dampened with warm water and a mild detergent cleaner.

The Verdict
The price of this stroller is very reasonable considering the quality and features included. I paid around the same for our travel system which was just thrown away due to a wheel falling off! I’m a little bummed I didn’t begin with Joovy as their stroller has everything a mom could ever ask for. Overall, I am highly impressed by our Kooper Stroller! I love the fact that it is so compact and lightweight, yet sturdy and durable. I absolutely love the design and bright yellow color. I receive compliments nearly every time we are out and about. My husband and I plan to have more children in the near future and Joovy is the only brand stroller we will ever use! If you are looking for the best quality strollers that will last you for years to come, I highly recommend Joovy.

The Joovy Kooper Stroller can be purchased at the online Joovy store for a sale price of $179.99 or at Amazon for around $152.

Zoobies Pets Review

zoobies_toy_pillow_blanket

Like most young children, my son loves stuffed animals. We recently took a trip to the Dallas Zoo, where my son discovered elephants for the first time. Once we arrived home from the zoo, he began looking all throughout the house while shouting out “elephant!” I didn’t think much of it, until he tossed his favorite stuffed animal from his bed. At that moment, I realized he was looking for an elephant stuffed animal

My “mom mission” was to find my son an elephant stuffed animal. During my search, I discovered Zoobies, who just happened to have exactly what I was looking for. Zoobies makes plush stuffed animals known as Zoobie Pets. However, Zoobie Pets aren’t just any ordinary stuffed animal. They are adorable 3-in1 stuffed animals that easily transform from a stuffed animal, to a pillow, to a soft, snuggly blanket.

Turtle-stuffed-animalZoobies has so many wonderful Zoobie Pets to choose from, including animals from their Safari Collection, Zoo Collection, Bug Collection, Wildlife Collection, Baby Zoobies and even Adult Zoobies. If the choice was up to me, I would have chosen the super cute Tama the Tortoise. However, my son insisted on an elephant, therefore we chose the equally adorable Ellema the Elephant.

Elephant-Stuffed-Animal

Ellema the Elephant will win over your child’s heart as soon as he/she lays eyes on her. My two year old son helped me remove Ellema from the shipping box and he hasn’t let her out of his sight once. Ellema the Elephant is absolutely adorable! She is a soft shade of beautiful baby blue and includes to plush white elephant tusks. Ellema’s head is stuffed with microbeads, which makes her extremely soft and squishy. She is made from 100% polyester, making her very durable.Ellema measures 53”x34”x 21.5L.

Zoobies-Ellema-Elephant

I cannot begin to tell you how much my son and I love our new Zoobies Pet! The 3-in-1 feature is absolutely amazing. Zoobies Pets are made with two soft hooks and a zipper which allow you to access the blanket. The blanket is removable, although my son prefers to keep it attached to Ellema. The removable blanket is a great feature for parents. My son spilled juice on his blanket and I was able to easily remove the blanket to wash, while spot washing the outer pouch.

I was so amazed at how soft the fleece blanket was. In the two years and dozens of blankets we’ve gone through, I have never felt one as soft as Ellema. The blanket is the perfect size to keep your little ones warm and can easily accommodate more than one small child.

Zoobies recommends using a lingerie bag if machine washing. I did not see these instructions prior to washing, but am happy to say after being washed several times, Ellema is in the same new condition we received her in – no peeling, fading or shrinking. They also recommend Ellema for children 3 and up (safety tested for all ages), however my 2 year old has done great with her.

Zoobies-CollectionZoobies Pets are reasonably priced and can be transformed from a stuffed animal, to a pillow and blanket, making them ideal for all places and occasions – at home, bedtime, doctor’s visits, road trips, birthday gifts, baby shower gifts and much more. I am so excited to have discovered Zoobies and I look forward to beginning my new Zoobies collection!

Could Your Husband Be Lying To You?

I consider my husband and I to have a very open and honest relationship. We both love to talk and we tell each other everything. Well, maybe I wouldn’t go that far. I’m sure if he were checking out the hottie in the convertible out on his way home, he wouldn’t tell me. Just like I don’t tell him every time some random guy hits on me. I would consider that to be holding back which is quite different from lying. That’s another story. I recently found out my husband lied to me. What makes it worse, is the fact that he has been telling the same lie over and over for the past two years! Here’s how it all went down.

Scenario: The family is out shopping. Husband, Wife (me) & our 24month old son.

Husband: Oh man! What is that smell? Hon, do you smell that? Did you fart? caution-dad-changing-diaper-funny
Wife: No, did you? Check the baby... I thought you were going to change him!?
Husband: I did. I think.
Wife: Ugh, I WILL check him. Yeah, he pooped. I have to run and pick up this prescription before the pharmacy closes. Please go change him.
Husband: I can’t.
Wife: Why can’t you? I’ve changed 4 crappy diapers today. You’re telling me you can’t even change one? Come on babe, I’ve got to get to the pharmacy.
Husband: No, I can’t. They don’t have a table for me to change him.
Wife: What!? You’re kidding me.
Husband: Nope. I’m serious.
Wife: Well, that’s stupid. What do single dads do when they have to change their baby’s diaper? I can’t believe it. Are you serious?
Husband: I’m dead serious. Go check if you don’t believe me.
Wife: No, that’s fine. I will do it. At least we know the builder was a man, and without kids obviously.

You get the gist. So men’s bathrooms do not have changing tables. Okay, whatever. I was a bit annoyed, but I got over it fast. Everything changed at a recent trip to Bass Pro Shop with my husband, son and father.

Husband: Oh man, I’ve got to run to the truck and grab my wallet.
Wife: You forgot it again? Ugh, well hurry up.
Husband: *runs out to the truck*
Wife: What’s that smell?
My Dad: You know I can’t smell.
Wife: Awe, it’s A. Why does he always wait until we’re shopping before he goes poop! Crap! The wipes are in the truck and I don’t have my phone. *My dad goes to grab wipes*
Thanks dad. I will be right back.

My Dad: Oh no, let me do it.
Wife: Are you sure? Let me, I will be right back.
My Dad: Yeah, I have to go too.
Wife: Ok, I will be looking around right here. Oh wait! You can’t change him! They don’t have baby changing stations.
My Dad: *laughs* Yes, they do. *Takes baby to change diaper. Returns shortly*
Wife: I can’t believe him. He told me men’s restrooms don’t have baby changing stations. I can’t believe he has been letting me change poopy diapers for the past two years.
My Dad: *laughs, only more hysterically* They do. He got you!

When my husband finally returned, I brought up the topic. I told him I could not believe he had lied for the past two years, pawning the poopy diapers off on me every single time. He responded with “ Bass Pro is the only one. I’ve never seen them before.” My dad was quick to laugh before telling me that most men’s restrooms have changing stations.

Wow! I can’t believe I fell for that one. I can’t help but laugh at the entire situation. How could I have been so gullible? If only I had went and checked the men’s restroom during our first shopping trip. I guess all I can say is lesson learned.

Did you already know men’s restrooms are equipped with changing stations? Has your husband ever lied to you to get out of changing a diaper? What excuses has he come up with?

Just a friendly note…Do not search Google Images for “Man Diaper Funny”. What you will see is not funny. It’s unusual, odd, a bit disturbing and absolutely not funny – at all.

Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies Review and Giveaway

Fiber-GummiesWe all need fiber in our diets and children are no exception. Foods rich in fiber are filling,  therefore high fiber foods discourage overeating. Fiber also helps to pass food through the digestive system and may protect against stomach and colon cancer as well as prevent constipation. Fiber also helps to lower LDL cholesterol, or in a child’s sake, help prevent high cholesterol as well as preventing diabetes and heart disease.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends 19 grams of fiber for  2-3 year olds, 25 grams of fiber for 4-8 year olds and 26-31grams for 9-11 year olds.  As parents, we understand the importance of a high fiber diet, but you won’t hear your child begging for more fiber. Your child may eat fiber-rich foods, but he or she may not be consuming enough fiber. I know my son loves beans, but it can still be difficult to meet the daily recommended intake.

Pedia- Lax Fiber Gummies are a great-tasting way to supplement your child’s daily fiber intake when fruits and veggies aren’t enough. Your child can get the same fiber in just 3 gummies as they would in 1/2 cup of broccoli. Besides being packed full of fiber, these gummies are gluten-free, sugar-free, calorie-free and are made with all natural fruit flavors.

kids - fiber

These fiber gummies are kid-friendly penguin-shaped and easy to chew. I had no problems getting my two-year old to take Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies. In fact, he loved them so much he kept asking for more. Of course, mom had to try one as well. They taste just like fruit gummies- there is no medicine taste and no after taste. They did a wonderful job of regulating my sons bowel movements without making them runny. In addition, I feel confident giving Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies to my son because they are not medicine, not a laxative, just wholesome, healthy fiber. PediaLax Fiber Gummies are dentist approved and now, mom approved!

Cost

$7.99 for a 60 count bottle.

Where to Buy

Available in mass market retailers, drug stores and supermarkets nationwide. Find a local retail store.

Boon Review- Frog Pod Deluxe

BoonLogoTag_RGB Initially, Boon began with a toddler and a messy bathtub. Mother and designer, Rebecca Finell was determined to find a better way to keep her bathtub tidy, yet still offering a fun bath time for her child. Her wheels started turning and soon enough, the Frog Pod was created.  She sought out her business partner, Ryan Fernandez, and together they founded Boon Incorporated. Today, Boon offers a wide range of innovative, yet affordable products to help families all over the world.

For my review, I chose to review the product that started it all- The Frog Pod Deluxe. The Frog Pod Deluxe includes both the Boon Frog Pod and Boon Bath Goods designer bath toys.

FrogPod

The Frog Pod is designed to help make cleanup a breeze by providing a drainable scoop for collection and rinsing toys. In addition, the Frog Pod provides storage and bath organization. You have several options for easy assembly- adhesive strips that can be removed without harming or damaging bath tile or wall surfaces, screw-mounted or suction cup wall bracket(sold separately).

frog-pod-review

The Bath Goods bath toys included with the Frog Pod Deluxe include 15 designer foam appliques, 3 balls, and 2 mini scrubbies to make bath time a creative and playful experience. The toys in this set do not absorb water which reduces the risk for mold and mildew. The contemporary colors and funky shapes of these toys look great in any bathroom and the mini-scrubbies are the perfect size for little hands.

bath-toys

I cannot even begin to describe how much my son and I love the Frog Pod Deluxe. His eyes lit up the moment he first saw his new bath toy. I chose to hang our Frog Pod using the self-adhesive strips. I am very impressed by how well these strips hold. I initially thought the Frog Pod would fall due to shower steam or from my son tugging on it. We have had ours installed for a couple of weeks now, and it remains tightly intact.

One of my favorite features is the frog’s fingers and toes. Both can be used for hanging bath accessories, and we use them to hang our mini-scrubbies. This toy was created with moms in mind too! Behind the frogs head and your shower wall is is a hidden shelf which offers room to hold 2-3 bottles of soap, shampoo, body wash, and so on.

The Frog Pod has the ability to hold up to 10lbs when using the adhesive strips and 20lbs when mounting with screws. The Frog Pod comfortably holds all of the toys from the Bath Goods set with a small amount of room for additional toys. We found what works best for us is to hang the wall appliques to the shower wall, which allows for more room for other toys in the scoop basket. They stay attached to the wall until our next bath time.

The Frog Pod helps make bath time clean-up a breeze, providing a drainable scoop for collecting and rinsing toys. Not only will the Frog Pod make bath time fun, but as parent’s we will feel at ease not constantly having to worry about mold and mildew building up on the toys.

bugPod_451 FrogPod  bugPod_452

My son recently turned two, and he loves his new Frog Pod. When I ask him if he would like to take a bath, he responds “ frog, play with frog, frog…”. He has a blast removing the scoop and dumping his toys into his bathwater. I enjoy watching him have so much fun getting clean. I am also grateful to have my shower back. His bath toys were taking over our shower. With the Boon Frog Pod, everything is neatly organized and out of the way. I wish I had discovered this product sooner! It would be great for babies, toddlers and I am sure we will enjoy it for years to come.

Boon products are not only clever, but they are modern, convenient and fun to use! Boon manufactures toys, bath goods, organizational pieces, toddler potty training seats, high chairs and so much more! All of their products are BPA-free, pthalate-free and PVC-free, so you can shop with confidence, knowing their products are safe for your children to use.

Enter our Boon Giveaway for a chance to win your very own Frog Pod!

Where to Buy: Shop online at Boon, locate a store, available at most mass retailers.

Price: Varies by location

Peter Rabbit Organics Review

About Peter Rabbit Organics
As parents, we only want the best nutrition for our children. I know I have such a hard time finding healthy fruit snacks and other organic kid-friendly foods. Peter Rabbit Organics was founded for this very reason. They originally began in a small London based office and became such a huge hit that they now make them in Oregon and sell them across the U.S. Peter Rabbit Organics is committed to providing healthy organic fruit snacks.

Organic Fruit Pouches
Peter Rabbit Organics Fruit Snacks are made from pure, organic fruit. Every fruit snack includes a full serving of  100% fruit. Their fruit snacks are made without added sugar or preservatives and come in a BPA-free pouch, similar to a squeezable juice pouch. Peter Rabbit Organics Fruit Snacks are available in three different varieties: Strawberry- Banana, Apple- Grape and Mango- Banana- Orange. Peter Rabbit Organics Fruit Snacks are recommended for children ages 6 months and older.
My Review
My two year old son has turned his nose up at fruits from the time we first introduced him to baby food. He despises fresh fruit, canned fruit and frozen fruit. In the past, I have tried to hide fruit pieces in (his favorite) plain yogurt and cereal, but he always find the fruit and spits it out. When we received our Peter Rabbit Fruit Pouches, I wasn't quite sure how well this would go over with him. To be honest with you, I thought he would spit it out just as he has done in the past.

To my surprise, he absolutely loved them! The first flavor I gave him was the Strawberry and Banana. I attempted to take the pouch from him to have a taste for myself, but he pushed my hand away and shouted "no!". He carried his pouch around with him all over the house and refused to set it down. I finally managed to take the pouch from him for a quick taste. The Strawberry Banana Organic Fruit Snack tasted exactly as you would imagine - strawberries and bananas. It had a granular consistency similar to applesauce. And just like applesauce, the fruit snacks are easy to swallow without chewing. The pouches are made with a no-choke cap that can be easily twisted off by an adult.

I am very impressed that my son enjoys the Peter Rabbit Organics Fruit Snacks. The only problem I have is that I wish I had discovered them sooner! These fruit snacks can be enjoyed directly from the pouch which means no spoons or straws are required. Besides being yummy, these snacks are mess-free, convenient, and perfect for on-the-go. Peter Rabbit Organics pouches are convenient to drop into a diaper bag, lunch box or purse without breaking or spilling. Unopened pouches don't need to be refrigerated, which means they can be enjoyed at home or while you are out and about.

Where to Buy
Peter Rabbit Organics Pouches are sold online at Amazon and are available at select Starbucks locations. They are also sold in stores across the US. To find a store near you, please use the Peter Rabbit store locator.

Organically Grown Two Piece Toddler Set

Organically Grown LogoOrganically Grown is a young and innovative company who has made a commitment to help make Earth a healthy planet. Organically grown offers affordable, safe, stylish, high-quality organic products. They offer products such as men's and women's apparel, infant and toddler clothing, home decor and personal care items.

Why Organic?
The Organic Exchange found that nearly 170 million pounds of pesticides and 25% of the worlds insecticides are used in the production of non-organic cotton. 7 out of 10 of these pesticides are on the EPA's (Environmental Protection Agency) "known" list of "likely" or "probable" carcinogens. These chemicals result in work-force illnesses, water contamination and the devastation of farmland. Did you know all of these problems can be eliminated through organic farming processes? Honestly, I had no idea. It scares me to think I am a part of this. Too bad the EPA doesn't require manufacturers to print this on clothing tags. I would have made the change to organic long before now. Organically Grown is proud to be a part of the solution and I am excited share my first organic clothing review with you.

I am always so jealous of my friends who have baby girls. Boys clothing is always so plain and boring. I was expecting another plain and boring outfit from Organically Grown. Instead, they sent me this:www.reviewretreat.com organcially grown clothing reviewI received the most adorable organic two piece outfit know as the "Handle With Care" 2 Piece Toddler Set. I must admit, this was a huge surprise. This outfit is one of the cutest boys sets I have seen. The fabric is so soft and well made. My son is 23 months old and normally wears a 5T. Organically grown has recently expanded their product line to include toddlers, which is very exciting!

Ayden running in OG clohing
I always have a hard time finding clothes that fit my son because he is so stout. I like that the waistband in these shorts are elastic. They fit my son great and provide ultimate comfort. It can become very frustrating shopping for him. He owns several clothing items that I know are uncomfortable for him. In some of them, he can't bend properly or even climb into a chair by himself. The shorts he is wearing from Organically Grown allow him to move freely.

My best friend is having her first baby girl. I saw the "Butterfly and Ladybug" dress while browsing Organically Grown, and knew I had to have this for her. For all of you with little girls, this one is for you. With a dress this cute, how could you say no?

Medibag First Aid Kit by Me4Kidz

Review and giveaway Medibag first aid kitWhen you have children, you want to do everything you can do to protect them. The truth is, accidents are bound to happen, especially with little boys. We can't prevent every accident but we will be there to help treat the wounds and make all of the boo-boo's or ouchies all better. This is why having a first aid kit on hand is essential. Me4Kidz understands the importance of safety and has created the ultimate first aid kit known as Medibag 4 Kidz.

My 23 month old son loves to help mommy check the mail. He was especially excited when he saw me remove our Medibag from the box it arrived in. I opened the Medibag to take a look at the supplies inside. My son took the Medibag and ran off with it. Kids will definitely love this bag. It resembles a doctor's play kit which is great because it helps to ease your child's worries. They will focus on the brightly colored kit and forget about their boo-boo.

Medibag First Aid Kit 4 Kidz Contains:Items included in the medibag
Our Medibag arrived on the perfect day. My son scraped his leg playing outside with his puppy. I used the antiseptic wipes to clean his wound and applied a neon band-aid. My son was completely preoccupied with the Medibag and didn't pay any attention to what I was doing. I love the stickers that are included. All kids love stickers and I have never seen a first aid kit include them. What a great idea to help comfort your child! The Medibag is a great value for everything that is included.

The First Aid Guide gives helpful tips on what to do in particular medical emergencies. I did find that most of the information was "general" and not child specific. I would have liked to see more age appropriate information rather than what do do if you think you are having a heart attack. I would have also liked to have seen a pain reliever such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen included. Overall, this is an amazing product! With summer knocking on our door, my son will playing outdoors more often and I am sure we will put our Medibag to good use.
